Save the Date(s)! Ride leader Michelle O’Donnell will start leading Friday afternoon group rides from Fresh Pond Reservation in Cambridge, beginning on May 5th at 1:00 PM. If the rain clears up, we’ll do an 18 mile Mystic Loop (route at https://www.strava.com/routes/8531971), no planned stops. Pace: 12-14 mph, no rider left behind. Rain cancels. Meet us at the entrance to the Cambridge Water Department (250 Fresh Pond Pkwy, Cambridge, MA 02138). Everyone should have their own water, spare tube, and helmet. This ride is for ***FTW (femme/trans/women)*** riders looking to celebrate the end of the work week. Join Us! Join Femmechanics for a group ride on Saturday, May 6! Meet us at 8:00 AM at the Civil War Memorial on Cambridge Common. We will head over to Arlington to ride the award-winning Minuteman Rail Trail out to Lexington (20 miles round trip). We’ll refuel at a cafe or, if there’s interest, continue on to Concord (35 mile round trip). We should be back in Cambridge by 11:00 AM. Pace: ~12-14 mph. This is a “No Drop” ride (ie. no rider left behind.) Rain cancels. Your ride leader is Marie Keil. This ride is for ***FTW (femme/trans/women)*** cyclists looking to ease into spring biking with a nice, flat route!
Spring is (sort of) here! We were going to go on a ride to Mt. Auburn Cemetery BUT our planned time overlapped with the Boston Cyclists Union’s Make Way for Bike Lanes Demonstration Bike Ride!
So! Join us as we join BCU to “demonstrate to the City of Boston that we need safe bike facilities connecting our neighborhoods, paths, and parks NOW!”
We’ll meet for a potluck picnic in the Esplanade before meeting up with BCU at Copley Sq. and beginning our ride around the Public Garden. More info on the event is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/273676423044865/
**this meetup is for FTW (Femme/Trans/Women) folks, but the ride with BCU is open to all**
Quick & dirty info: Apr 23rd @ 1pm @ the boat docks on the esplanade (Boston side of the Paul Dudley White bike path)
Spring is (sort of) here! Join us for a ride from the Esplanade to Mt. Auburn Cemetery, as well as for some spooky cemetery exploration and snacks at Sofra.
We will meet at Hatch Shell on the Esplanade Sunday April 23rd at 1pm and ride out (~50% on bike paths) out to Mt. Auburn Cemetery. We’ll bike back in as a group, expect to get back to Boston/Cambridge around 5pm.
Note: Contrary to what the event photo might suggest, Mt. Auburn is not a dog cemetery, which is really just too bad. But if someone wants to plan a bike trip to Paris– https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cimetière_des_Chiens_et_Autres_Animaux_Domestiques
This event is welcome to FTW (Femme/Trans/Women) folks.
Stay up to date on the Facebook Event!
On Monday March 20, let’s meet up and watch a story slam!
Don’t know what a story slam is? Find out here: http://www.massmouth.org/specialevents/2017/3/20/passim-final-act-slam
The slam starts at 7 and goes til 9. We’ll meet at Club Passim at 6:45. Tickets are $10 ($12 after fees) and should be purchased in advance. Seating is either in seats or at tables of four. We have reserved two tables and can try to reserve more if there is interest.
A(n optional) bike pool will be starting in JP and rolling to a stop at Landry’s on Comm Ave before continuing on the the slam:
5:40 – meet at Stony Brook T station
5:45 – roll out
6:15 – stop at Landry’s to pickup any folks who want to join there
6:45 – arrive at Club Passim
There will probably also be some of us meeting up at a location in Harvard square before the slam (and, of course, people can hang out after if they’d like). Stay tuned for details!
*While this is a femme/trans/women event, the space itself will not be.
